ANDY MITCHELL WINES

"Perfecting the art of garagiste winemaking" - Andy Mitchell

A beautiful spring day in Johannesburg @ The Peech Hotel

The first Saturday of spring, one day after the spring solstice we headed off into a garden wonderland in the middle of Johannesburg. The Peech Hotel set up a beautiful spring wine festival, for many of the top boutique wine farms. A pleasant day in the garden and under sunny sky, the wine tasters laid down many colourful blankets and settled under the trees. Delicious food was supplied by the very helpful staff of the hotel and lots and lots of wine was enjoyed by all. Did you know that the spring solstice which many believe to be September 1, is actually a changing date from the 20th - 22nd of September.

It was an exciting week as we visited Norman Goodfellows in Illovo and Dry Dock Boutique Liquor in Parkhurst. We are hoping they soon stock our wines.

A wonderful report from Tim Atkins

It is very thrilling to see the 2017 special report from Tim Atkins. A delightful scoring of 94 points and a positive review on our 2011 MCC, here is what he had to say about it:

''The Mitchells made this delicious first-release bubbly at their small cellar in Greyton, using Chardonnay from Franschoek and Pinot Noir from Paarl. Spending five years on lees, it's a rich, dry, complex, toasty mouth-filling wine with creamy bubbles, lime zesty acidity and a tapering finish.''

Thank you Tim Atkins and MCC Association for this really special review.
