outing in the 2005 Veritas Competition"
The quality of the Syrah has been further enhanced by a process of barrel selection, whereby the best barrels are selected for 'Breakfast Rock Syrah'. The remaining barrels are blended together for the second label red wine, 'Crooked Path Shiraz'. However, even the second label was rated at 4 Stars by the 2009 Platter Wine Guide. 'Crooked Path Shiraz' is named after the well known zig-zag path going up the mountain on the Riviersonderend side of the Gobos River.
The Rosé is called 'Nerina Shiraz Rose' and is named after Nerina Street, which is close to the cellar and also the prolific Nerina lilys, growing in the indigenous garden surrounding the cellar. The maiden vintage was in 2006 and due to it's popularity amongst the Greyton locals, it has been made every year since.
New in 2008 was the first white wine, a partially barrel fermented Chenin Blanc. 40% of the wine was barrel fermented in new French barriques and 60% was fermented cold in stainless steel tanks. The two parts were blended together to produce a deliciously rich Chenin Blanc with subtle spicy vanilla notes from the French barriques.
